Asin was at some contractually obligated event to promote Fairever Fruit Fairness Cream.  She was also contractually obligated to match the color of the carpet.  Asin looked ridiculous standing in front of a big basket of cardboard fruit, and a giant box of fairness cream in her hand.

I am not an India woman so I don’t know much about this “changing your natural completion to that of another race of people” except what Asin and Cavin Kare, the manufacturer tell me.  They mention the following on their website:

“ In order to protect their complexion, the common practice is that women tend to avoid going out in the sun, and hence wait till evening before stepping out.. Fairever has stepped in to their rescue. The girl is now encouraged to go out whenever she wants, without worrying about her complexion, as her fairness is protected”
